TCU in Olacefs
The Latin American and Caribbean Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions – Olacefs – is the regional arm of Intosai to which TCU belongs. Within this Organization, knowledge and experiences which are very important to the Brazilian Court are exchanged on an ongoing basis. The debates held during the General Assemblies of Olacefs, participation in courses organized by the Organization, and the exchange of auditors for internships set the conditions for dealing with priority topics for the development of appropriate controls for the public administration.
In tune with Intosai's framework, Olacefs has a General Assembly, a Steering Council, a Secretariat General and Technical Committees. Currently (August 2006), the Court takes part in the following committees:
-
Technical Committee on Environmental Audit – Comtema (member);
-
Committee on the Performance of Supreme Audit Institutions and Performance Indicators – Cedeir;
-
Committee on Regional Capcity Building - CCR (member).
The Court is a sub-headquarters of Olacefs in connection with its training program and for many years it has provided the "Audit of Computer Systems" course, which is open to the participation of all SAIs of the Organization, and began to offer, in 2006, a course on environmental management. In addition, every year TCU auditors attend courses held in other institutions of the Organization. In some occasions TCU auditors participate as instructors.
